Como hit nine at Lens to equal the biggest win in Champions League history
Anastasios Douvikas scored a hat-trick as Cesc Fàbregas's side won 9-1 in France, the largest away victory the competition has ever seen, in only their first Champions League campaign.

Como equalled the biggest winning margin in Champions League history on Wednesday 4 November 2026, thrashing Lens 9-1 in France with Anastasios Douvikas scoring a hat-trick.
It was, according to UEFA's list of the competition's biggest wins, the largest away victory in Champions League history, and it came from a club playing in the tournament for the first time.
Reuters reported that the win consolidated Como's place in the top eight after three victories in four league-phase matches. UEFA had Cesc Fàbregas's side fourth in the table at the midway point.
Douvikas leads the rout
Douvikas set the tone with a goal in the seventh minute and added a second in the 32nd. Nico Paz also scored before the break, and Como went in at half-time 3-0 up.
If Lens hoped for a quieter second half, they did not get one. Lucas Da Cunha made it four shortly after the restart and Marc-Oliver Kempf headed in the fifth.
Douvikas completed his hat-trick in the 57th minute, taking him to six goals in the 2026/27 Champions League and to the top of the competition's scoring chart, according to UEFA. He was also listed by UEFA as the Player of the Match.
Mattia Liberali scored Como's seventh, his first career goal in the Champions League, as reported by the club. Ruben Aguilar pulled one back for Lens, but Martin Baturina and Matteo Papaccioli added an eighth and a ninth to complete a remarkable evening.
Como 1907 described it as the club's first historic away victory in European competition.
Alongside Liverpool and Real Madrid
The eight-goal margin puts Como in rare company. AFP reported that they became only the third team since the launch of the modern Champions League in 1992 to win by eight.
UEFA's records show the result matched Liverpool's 8-0 home win against Beşiktaş on 6 November 2007 and Real Madrid's 8-0 home win against Malmö on 8 December 2015. Neither of those, though, was achieved away from home, which is what makes Como's night in France stand alone in the competition's history.
There is a wider pattern here too. AFP reported that Como had beaten Manchester United 4-1 two weeks before the Lens match. Taken together, the two results suggest a side that is not simply enjoying its first Champions League campaign but shaping it.
For Fàbregas, the numbers tell their own story. Three wins from four, fourth in the table, the competition's top scorer in his squad and a nine-goal attacking display spread across seven different scorers. Douvikas took the headlines, but Paz, Da Cunha, Kempf, Liberali, Baturina and Papaccioli all found the net, which speaks to a team scoring from everywhere rather than relying on one man.
